What to Expect

Vail has reached celebrity status in the ski world, attracting more lovers and haters than any other North American ski resort. With undeniably excellent terrain and snow conditions, few would argue that Vail isn’t a blast to ski. Even if it doesn’t have terrain extreme enough for the top 1% of skiers, it has plenty of advanced and even expert terrain for the rest of us, especially in the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin.

"Play is the only way the highest intelligence of humankind can unfold."

-Joseph Chilton Pearce

Vail Village draws more mixed feelings. Some love its Bavarian ambiance, while others find it too kitschy. If you’re in the latter category, enjoy a few beers at après and forget your misgivings. There’s plenty of charm to be found while surrounded by the Rockies, breathing crisp mountain air at the base of one of the top ski resorts in the world.
