What to Expect

Ylläs is one of few ski resorts in the world located in the Arctic Circle. Located in the heart of Finnish Lapland, the sun never rises for Ylläs early in the season, while later on, it barely sets. Before you jump for 24 hours of sunlight and warmer conditions, though, keep in mind you can only see the Northern Lights in the dead of night.

"All mountain landscapes hold stories: the ones we read, the ones we dream, and the ones we create."

-Michael Kennedy

As one of the largest ski areas in Finland, Ylläs offers some great downhill terrain. But where it shines is 200 miles of cross country tracks, 24 miles of them illuminated. Visitors can also try out snow biking, snowshoeing, kite skiing, and dog sledding, or for a chiller activity, you can head over to the SnowVillage, made entirely of sculpted snow and ice.
